Itinerary


Day 1: SINGAPORE - CAIRO
Your vacation starts with a pleasant flight to Cairo – the capital city of Egypt and the largest city in Africa. Our exciting tour today includes a visit to the world’s famous museum – the Egyptian Museum. Learn the history and see the antiquities of some of the great pharaohs. Next, enjoy a camel ride before we proceed to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – the Great Pyramids of Giza. The three Great Pyramids were built by Cheops (the father), Chephron (the son) and Mycerinus (the grandson), at about 2650 BC. About 350m from the Cheops’ pyramid stand the Great Sphinx (father of terror). This gigantic statue represents a lion with a human head, which was said to be a likeness of Chephren standingguard over his tomb.

Day 2: CAIRO – MEMPHIS & SAQARRA – CAIRO - ASWAN
Start our tour visiting Memphis, the capital of the Old Kingdom, where statues of Rameses II awaits us. Travel to Saqqara to view the Step Pyramid of Zoser I, dating from 2686BC, the oldest in the world. Next, visit the Citadel, from which we get a breath-taking view of the whole city, and Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali. Spend sometime at the Khan El Khalili, a famous Cairo Bazaar. This evening, take an overnight train to Aswan.

Day 3: ASWAN
Upon arrival, proceed for a tour of the Aswan High Dam, completed in 1971 by the Russians to provide hydro-electric power and electrical supply to the rest of the country. From the top of the two-mile-long High Dam are the panoramic views of Lake Nasser, the huge reservoir, Kalabsha temple in the south and the huge power station to the north. Next, we visit the Granite Quarries – The Unfinished Obelisk, where it was used to build the pyramids and temples for ancient Egypt. Set sail on a Felucca (or motor-boat), passing by the Agha Khan Mausoleum and Kitchener Island (also known as Botanical Island) to the island of Egelika where the Temple of Philae stands today. During the construction of the old dam in 1904, the temple was submerged into the flooded river for sometime. With the help of UNESCO the temples were dismantled and reconstructed on this island, which is 500m from the island of Philae. Upon completion of the sightseeing tour, proceed to your cruise for the night.*If time permits, you may have an opportunity to visit Abu Simbel, and the famous Temples of Rameses II (own expense).

Day 4: ASWAN-KOM OMBO-EDFU
Kom Ombo, a prosperous agricultural and industrial city owes its fame to the remarkable Temple dedicated to two Gods: Sobek (the Crocodile God) and Haroeris. Built during the reign of the Ptoloemies, it is situated on the bank of the Nile where crocodiles used to sun themselves. Visit the astonishingly well-preserved mesmeric Temple of Horus, dedicated to the Falcon God. On guard at the entrance are 2 very beautiful black granite statues depicting Horus in the form of falcon.

Day 5: EDFU-ESNA-LUXOR
Today, enjoy a full day of sightseeing as we cross the West Bank and visit the Tombs of the Valleys of the Kings and Queen Hatshepsut Temple. On our way to the cruise, stop by the site of the temple of Amon-Ofis III to see the Colossi of Memmon – the two gigantic statues of the Pharaoh seated on his throne.

Day 6: LUXOR - HURGHADA
After breakfast, proceed to tour the Temple of Luxor, built during the Rein of Amenhotep II. The most significant contribution to the temple were done by the Pharoah Ramses II, among which are six looming statues of himself guarding the entrance. Next, visit the Karnak Temple and be overwhelmed by its intricacy and proportions. Every major period in the history of Egypt is represented in the additions to this complex of shines dedicated to Amon and his family. Transfer to Hurghada, originally a traditional fishing village that has now become one of the most popular resorts on Red Sea. Upon arrival, embark on a glass bottom boat tour. Cruise on the Red Sea and enjoy a view of the underwater world which includes coral reefs and an array of marine lifes.

Day 7: HURGHADA
Today you are at leisure. Why not join an optional snorkelling trip to view the spectacular coral reefs, take a 4-wheel drive tour to the desert or simply relax and stay by the pool of your luxurious hotel.

Day 8: HURGHADA - CAIRO -SINGAPORE
This morning, take a domestic flight back to Cairo. Transfer for your homeward flight, with wonderful memories and superb souvenirs from your Egyptian vacation with CTC Holidays.
