Tioman Travel Overview:
An emerald gem gracefully basking in the South China Sea some 32 km off Malasia¡¯s southeast coast, Tioman is unmistakably everyone¡¯s tropical holiday dream come true.
Such is its tropical charisma that a fabled dragon princess found her final resting place here, not to mention the the Marine Park status gazetted by the Malaysian government for protection of its sound ecobiodiversity, the pervasive reputation publicized by Time magazine who counted among the world¡¯s most beautiful islands, the startling natural bounty and glory to be admired in National Geographic¡¯s documentaries, and its dream-like atmosphere which was immortalized the fictitious paradise Bali Hai in the enduring Hollywood musical South Pacific.
So richly blessed as it is, Tioman offers endless bliss for all kinds of visitors, be he or she one of the divers and snorkelers discovering the astounding underwater grounds of a marine treasure trove, windsurfers and jetskiiers treating themselves to some of the world¡¯s most exciting water-sport playgrounds, jungle trekkers and mountain hikers admiring and discovering nature at its purest, or escaping and retiring urbanites seeking solace while lazing on the pristine beaches working on that tan in the golden sun, or being lulled to sleep by the soothing waves and gentle breezes while lounging on a swaying hammock.

Tioman¡¯s hot and humid tropicqal climate calls for nothing more than light summer clothing made of cotton or other natural marials that absorbs sweat well and dries fast.
In terms of dress code, modesty is observed. Too skimpy attire or swimwear out of the beach area are best avoided for cultural reasons, regardless of the weather.
Shorts, T-shirts, sandals or other comfortable and neat tropical beachwear will do just fine no matter you¡¯re venturing onto the beaches or sailing out to nearby islands.
For that late-night stroll at the beach, remember to put on a windbreaker to keep you warm.
When trekking into the hilly interior of the island, sneakers and a light jacket may be needed. You¡¯ll want to bring your swimsuit for waterfall explorations in the jungles too.
Tourists are advised to apply protection from the sun and mosquitoes too.
Sunglasses and a hat, plus lots of sun block or suntan lotion are essential to prevent severe sunburn.
As usual, mosquito repellent is highly recommended, while anti-itch ointment, e.g Tiger Balm and calamine lotion come handy for alleviating many other common ailments frequently happen to tourists.

1.Time to visit
The weather is one of the reasons you¡¯re here for, so make sure you check out weather the monsoon season has ended or not before heading in this direction for Malaysia¡¯s East Coast, which is generally caught in torrential rain, thunder storms, strong winds and maddening waves from November throught February.
Try not to arrage your holiday during this period of time, or you may end up paying too much to get there but seeing almost all the accommodaions and other places are closed, or sitting in your room watching your whole holiday get washed away by the constant rains only to be punctuated by intermittent sunshine for no more than 5 minutes.
Even if you¡¯re lucky enough to touchdown when the monsoon season ends, you might have made the mistake of arriving during public and school holidays, when travelling expenses are usually more costly and beaches are absurdly crowded.
2.Medicine & Health
Seasickness:
Prepare anti motion sickness pills before you get aboard; look around and enjoy the beautiful views during your trip, try not to focus on one object only; suck a sweet lemon.
Sunburn:
Don¡¯t forget to put on enough sunscreen all the time during the day, sunglasses and/or a hat for extra protection help too. Also, be discreet when working out that tan on the beachces. Try to limit your tanning time to the cooler time of the day or a shorter period at a time.
Mosquitoes and Sandflies:
When mosquitoes start to seriously irritate tourists after the sun goes down, sandflies can be more annoying, as they are present during the daytime all over the beaches and their bites are ten times painful than those of mosquitoes. Use mosquito/insect repellent and skin oil to keep yourself away from such bugs, or weear long pants and long sleeve shirt if necessary.
3.Safety
Beware of Falling Coconut:
There are such signboards on some coconut trunks, and this warning is really not a joke.
Coconuts do fall hard and harm unlucky walkers-by. So walk carefully around palm trees, especially in the morning and evening, when they are more prone to bombing.
Jungle safety:
Unless you are taking a organized tour guided by some really knowledgable locals, avoid trekking into the jungle.
This is real jungle which is full of wild/poisonous animals you many not want to encounter.
Although such inhabitants like monkeys, monitor lizards, and cobra snakes are harmless to human beings unless provoked, full precautionary measures should be exercised, especially when children are around.
Diving safety:
Bring a personal first aid kit to treat normal reef cuts and sea urchins stings before a professional medication is needed;
Check conditions of diving and lifesaving equipment before a dive;
Don¡¯t enter the water alone, always stay with your partner;
Do not dive beyond the limitations of your ability.
4.Cultural Do¡¯s and Don¡¯ts
No topless sunbathing, please, This is Islamic Malaysia.
Remove yuur shoes off when entering a mosque/temple or a Malaysian home.
Use your right hand when eating with one's hand or when giving and receiving something.
Cover up your shoulders and thighs properly, ladies, especially if you¡¯re visiting temples or mosques.
