Perth Travel Overview:
Perched on the the banks of the mighty Swan River, pinched between the cerulean Indian Ocean and the cyan Darling Ranges, privileged with a fantastic sunny climate ideal for all sorts of outdoor pursuits, and packed with modern conveniences and historic touches, Perth is a place predestined to please your exhausted eyes, pacificate your stessed soul and purchase your hard-to-win favor.
Despite of its widespread reputation as the most isolated capital in the world and the sunniest state capital in Australia, it is the dramatic amalgamation of contradictions of this Western Australia's proud capital and the sole metropolitan player in Australia's largest and least populated state that's most impressive and record-breaking.
Having projected a metropilitan cityscape with the a glittering city skyline dominating the postcard perfect riverfront setting, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere with a sophisticated diversity of an eclectic personality of its multicultural population and distinct neighborhoods, without introducing the maddening crowd crushes of its far-flung overland cousins, Perth always creates a fairly favorable first impression.
Perth still manages to retain its tangible sense of history in its architecture and museums, a delightful urbanity in its art galleries, the saving-grace inner-city patches of greenery in the King's Park, and the sprawling suburban expanses of hills and vineyards, a pulsating youthfulness in its universities, buzzing nighlife, an energetic outdoorsy lifestyle and festive sports, cultural and community events, and a laid-back vibe in its alfresco cafes and restaurants, lullingly relaxing family beach days and disarmingly friendly folks.

Given its unique location on the continent, Perth experiences something of a Mediterranean climate, which is characterised by long hot summer from December to February during the height of which the maximum temperatures can reach and exceed 38C, cool wet winter from June to August when the heaviest rainfall of the year descends along with healthy temperatures ranging between 8C and 18 C, and mild transition seasons of Spring and Autumn bringing in pleasant sunshine, warm water temperatures and moderate rainfall.
In keeping with its four distinct seasons, different types of clothing for the year and a change of clothes should be taken into consideration when packing for your Perth visit.
Lightweight cotton and linen attire, like T-shirts, light long-sleeved shirt and loose-fitting neat shorts or jeans, can be worn for most of the year, but you will need a sunhat, sunscreen and sunglasses for protection against the sun during summer, a lightweight waterproof jacket or pullover/sweater for wet cool days in winter, and suitable footwear for beachgoing, biking, or bushwalking.
If you're not going to dress to be seen, smart casual clothing is more than enough to get you into most restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs.
