Krabi Travel Overview:
A later discovery as a coastal resort destination of this tropical kingdom, Krabi brings out the best in an unspoiled natural splendor, an unlimited adventure playground and the irresistible Thailand hospitality.
Stringing out along the Andaman Coast of Southern Thailand 165 km east of Phuket and 814 km south of Bangkok, Krabi is a collective name given to this tiny coastal province consisting of a kaleidoscope of over 200 virgin islands, duvet soft beaches, colorful coral reefs and exotic mangrove forests dotting the coastline, a myriad of caves, hot springs, lagoons, and waterfalls hidden in the jungle-covered inland, and a magnificent karst seascape with craggy limestone cliffs jutting overhead in curious formation and incredible ostentation.
Backpackers, family vacationers, honeymooners, outdoorsmen, day-trippers from Phuket, and long-haul holidaymakers from all over Southeast Asia as far as north Europe are discovering their own piece of natural element here. For those with either an anti-crowd attitude or a stick-to-modern-conveniences syndrome, Krabi seems to be the very right cure.
Visitors can revel in adventurous foray at towering cliffs above Railay and Ao Nang beaches, island hopping the outlying islets, scuba diving in Phi Phi Island and Koh Lanta, spelunking the mysterious cave system, taking an eco-tour around the mountainous interior, or just dozing off and chilling out on a private beach of a wooden thatched bungalow with idyllic simplicity or a concrete opulent bunker with all mod-cons.

Beachwear and casual summer clothing should be the order of the day in Krabi, cause you¡¯re most probably on your casual beach holiday here in the bright tropical sun by the crystal Andaman Sea, and any fancy clothes seem out of place.
Swimming suits are worn by most on the beaches, but topless sunbathing is highly provocative and absolutely frowned upon, as there is a high density of Muslim locals on the island.
T-shirt, shorts, and beach sandals are perfectly suitable for anyone who likes to get ¡°out and about¡± in town, on the beaches or out to offshore exotic tropical islets. Coupled with sunglasses and/or sunhat, you can still get yourself into most places.
More functional clothes, like non-revealing clothing that covers your limbs properly, could be packed if you¡¯d like to visit any temples or sacred places.
No matter you¡¯re particularly prone to insect bite or not, mosquito repellent, and tons of it, is essential for any tourist in Krabi, as is sun block.
Due to the sudden downpours at the most unexpected times throughout the year, especially during September and early October, a foldable umbrella or rain-proof cover for your baggage could be useful.

1. Stay Safe
Personal safety of tourists is generally not an issue in Krabi. But wandering around on your own down a poor-lit alley or off the beaten track after dark, leaving your belongings unattended or carrying the bulk of your valuables while you¡¯re out and about, is probably not a good idea.
Riding pallion without a helmet, even if it seems like everyone else is, is rather an actural safety hazard, as motorcycle rental does not come with any insurance, and reckless driving in this country has caused one of the hightest traffic accident rates found anywhere.
There are various packages provided by travel agents, offering rock climbing, jungle trekking, or island hopping opportunities. Make sure that your adventure is covered by insurance and carefully check all your outdoor gear yourself.
2. Stay Healthy
Dengue fever:
Mosquito-born disease prevaling in most parts of southeast Asia.
Best prevented by avoiding being bitten by mosquitoes: always apply mosquito repellent, lightwight loose-fitting long trousers, long sleeve shirts and closed shoes will help too.
Dehydration:
Very commom in Krabi.
To avoid dehydration, sufficient consumption of water is essential, and non-iced water, oral rehydration salts or drinks, and pharmacist's treatment are recommended.
Diarrhoea:
Common case among non-Asian tourists.
To reduce the risk of diarrhoea, as well as other food and water born diseases, choose hygienic dining enviroment, be cautious about thye amount of chilli or other unfamiliar spies in the dish you order, and prepare anti-diarrhoeal medication.
Drinking water:
Tap water not drinkable, bottled water recommended, ice and drinks in hotels and restaurants are generally safe.
Jellyfish stings:
Commom instance on the beach.
Can be treated by pouring vinegar, lime juice, crushed leaves of the creepers with purple flowers (available on many beaches), or your own urine, on the sting as soon as possible.
Malaria:
No risk of malaria in Krabi.
But mosquitoes can always be bothersome, especially when you¡¯re outside at night by the water. Preventative measures, such as using mosquito repellent, or/and covering your skin are recommended.
Sunburn/sunstroke:
Very common. Make sure you put sun cream on at all times, use a hat and sunglasses whenever you're exposed in the rays, limit your tanning time, and take special precautions on outdoors trips, like boating, cycling, swiming, and even snorkeling.
Sexually-transmitted diseases:
Go-go bar scene in Krabi is rather limited and considerably less active than in Bangkok or Pattaya, but risks still exist.
Condoms are always essential to curb the possibility of contracting sexually-transmitted diseases, HIV and AIDS in particular, when taking part in sexual relations.
Besides, it is advisable to consult your local doctor or hospital as to what precautionary medical measures you may need for your trip, and have at hand the address and contact info of quality hospitals in areas you plan to visit in Krabi.
3.Culture Do¡¯s and Don¡¯ts
Do not touch another person¡¯s head in public, or point your feet at another person.
Do not go topless sunbathing on the beaches. It is in fact banned by law and in practice frowned by locals.
Do not display anger or rudeness in public. Impolitness and rudeness of any form can get you nowhere in the Land of Smiles.
Do show respect to their religious beliefs and practices. Appropriate attire must be worn while visitng holy grounds life tempels and mosques. It is recommended that women wear shirts with sleeves, long pants, sarongs or knee-length skirts, and men wear neat shirts and shorts.
