Hiroshima Travel Overview:
A location of immense tragedy it may be, Hiroshima makes a triumphal comeback with intense vigor and zest.
On August 6, 1945, at at 8:15am, for the purposes of hastening the unconditional surrender of the Japanese imperialists, an atomic bomb was dropped and exploded over the center of Hiroshima, marking it the world's first ever victim of A-bomb in the history of humanity.
To the extent that the indiscriminate violence of the most destructive bombs the world has ever seen has resulted in the immediate mass death of about 200,000 civilians and the devastation of a beautiful city laced with rivers and strems, the most sheltered port on the Seto Inland Sea and the largest city in western Honshu, Hiroshima was almost entirely wiped off the map.
While it's said that a picture's worth a thousand words, the collaborative effort of horrific photographs and testimonies, lurid reports and novels, and apalling documentaries and films, of the ominously huge mushroom cloud, of fires broke out all over the city, of incalculable damage and destruction, of seared skin hanging from bodies, of sick people suffering from cancer, disfigurement, scars, and keloid skin tissue, of sudden death without any onward singns, would simply pale in describing what happened in reality on that day, nor will it suffice to estimate even a ten-thousandth of the terrible aftermath the blast survivors, known as hibakusha, are subjected to.
Despite the desolate cityscape of nothing but ashes as far as the eye can see and the prediction that nothing would grow here for 75 years at the time, and the fact that hatred still reigns in the hearts of some, the resilient people of Hiroshima decide not to engage themselves in accusations, blame, or weighing reasons and responsibilities of the decision to use the A-bomb against the unsuspecting innocent civilians, but to vehemently wield the power of passion for life and rebuild Hiroshima into a vibrant delta city once again.
Thankfully, Hiroshima has risen from the ashes, becoming a modern metropilis complete with outstanding urban infrastructure to accommodate the steady flow of international business executives in and out, and The City of Peace with a slew of living reminders of the tragedy and modern tourist attractions to draw pilgrims of peace from around the world.
And hopefully, this would be the last educational experience where the world learn the horrors of war for the last time.

Pretty distinct four seasons with a fragrant spring carpeted in pink with cherry blossoms and wildflowers, warm summer smothered by high temperatures and humidity, mellow autumn splashed with pastel red and yellow hues of changing maple leaves, and cold winter when it occasionally snows, Hiroshima's climate is much the same as the rest of Japan, only somewhat milder and more moist, due to the maze of waterways which criss-cross this City of Water on the Ota River delta in the embrace of the Seto Inland Sea and the Chugoku Mountains.
Depending on the general weather conditions of the time of year you are planning to pay your visit, you should pack and wear the very specific kind of clothes accordingly.
During spring and autumn, there is quite a bit of temperature variation, ranging from quite cold to pleasantly mild-and-warm to slightly humid-and-hot, and vice versa. A warm coat and sweater are recommended for early March and late November, and at least a cardigan or light coat for the early spring and late autumn. You should also bring some light jackets to deal with the cooler hours in the mornings and evenings throughout these months.
In addition to the normal summer attire of natural fabric you wear at home, like short-sleeve T-shirts, shorts or sandals/comfortable walking shoes for sightseeing, smart casual skirts, dresses or nice slacks to be in keeping with the more formal occasions, and sweatpants or swimsuits for recreation al activities and the outdoors, an umbrella is definitely a necessity during summer, especially when the humidity dominates the rainy season from mid June to mid July, the typhoon season in late August. It also comes handy to protect yourself from the intense sunlight at mid-day during September when the heat takes over.
Remember that it's not uncommon to see snows on Japan's main island of Honshu, not to mention that the Chugoku Mountains are home to the southernmost ski slopes of substantial size in Honshu, so wrap up warmly, winter in Horishima is definitely going to be cold.

About the tragedy:
Although the tolerent friendly people in Hiroshima are welcoming tourists with open arms, the average Hiroshima resident, many of which are hibakusha (atomic bomb blast survivors) still living in Hiroshima or the young generations having personal ties to hibakusha, isn't likely to relish talking about it.
If such topic is brought up, by curious fellow tourists, or kids on school groups working on field trips, just come up with your very candid snappy answer, there is no need to shy away from it.
About traditions:
Japanese bath is not for washing but for relaxing, so wash yourself thoroughly beforehand;
Name cards exchange is part of the greeting no matter the meeting is for business or not;
Basic daily etiquette such as greeting with bows are generally expected of foreign visitors;
