Lightweight Summer Clothing:

Most visits to Dubai are guaranteed trouble-free, since crime rate in the region is very low;
Nevertheless, it is still more advisable to buy travel insurance and exercise common sense;
Keep an extra eye on your valuables in busy public areas & on crowded public transport;
While parking your car, secure doors &windows, keep valuables inside out of sight;
Don't leave the key or engine running when picking up takeaways or quick supermarket runs;
There is a zero tolerance for drugs and illegal substances & penalties are extremely harsh;
Possession of the slightest amount of illegal drugs may incur jail sentences or death penalty;
Be aware of drugs and medicines prohibited Dubai and stay away from such substances;
Homosexuality is prohibited, and public displays of affection can get unwanted attention;
Traffic in town can be tough, due to the constantly ongoing construction projets &building boom;
Dubai has right-hand traffic & speed limits are 60-80kph around town, 100-120kph elsewhere;
Seat belts are compulsory, and using handheld mobile phones while driving is illegal;
It's also against the law to drink and drive (maximum legal blood alcohol content is 0);
Drunken behaviour in public is not only rude in Muslim culture, but also a punishable offence;
When bringing magazines into Dubai, bear in mind that Dubai has tight censorship of media.
Fridays in town, when streets are packed with men, can be unpleasant for female travelers.

4.Other Do's & Don'ts
Don't drink, let alone get drunk, outside of licensed premises, like bars&restaurants in hotels;
Those found carrying alcohol on the street without a lisence to do so are also deemed illegal;
Don't in any way vent your anger either physically or verbally, whch can result in your arrest;
As the most liberal-minded of all emirates, there is no dress code officially enforced in Dubai;
Yet as a Muslim state, modesty in clothing is the norm for both expat inhabitants and visitors;
Beware of your choice of clothing, always cover up arms, legs &midriff with appropriate clothes;
Swimsuit is allowed at the beach or the swimming pool, topless sun-bathing is not allowed;
During Ramadan, it is illegal for anyone to eat, drink or smoke in public during fasting hours;
Tipping is not compulsory, but is a common practice to leave around 10% of the bill in cash;
Avoid photographing military sites, ask permission before photographing native people;
Have smaller notes ready while traveling around Dubai on taxis and public transport vehicles;
Some certan hand and body gestures are not only rude, but also offensive in Muslim culture.
