Bintan Travel Overview:
A close cousin of Batam, both looking out onto the scintillating skyline of the bustling city state across the Strait of Singapore, and the biggest island in the province of Riau Archipelago, Bintan is fast becoming an immense drawcard in the booming tourist and resort markets in Southeast Aisa.
While also being part of the Sijori Growth Triangle, Bintan is less of a rough and tumble industrial park than the highly commercialized Batam, yet more of a tried and true nature sanctuary than the ostentatiously orderly and opulent Singapore.
Take into consideration that Bintan is about 2.5 times the size of Singapore, there surely is plenty of room for the largely untouched pockets of pastoral charisma on the east coast around Trikora to survive and thrive alongside the plush Bintan Resorts development on the north coast around Lagoi, and the terrific and authentic Indonesian feel of a real border boomtown on the southwest coast around Tanjung Pinang, the capital city of the province of Riau Archipelago.
Throw in a refreshing host of water-sports, including the adrenalin-pumping jetskiing, kayaking, and windsurfing, the fascinating scuba-diving or snorkelling experience around the rich and abundant marine life in the enthralling underwater world, marvelous discoveries into the awe-inspiring serenity of the mangrove swamps or the diversity of the surrounding islands, leisurely beachcombing, fishing, or sunbathing, or simply taking a chilling-out dip into the cool waters on a hot sunny day, you have a perfect beach getaway with a vast array of wet fun in the sun.
Promising to bring out the beach bum in everyone, be him or her a local Indonesian from other parts of the country, a holidaymaker or honemooner just across the pristine azure waters of the sea, or a retiree or long-stay expat from another coner of the world, Bintan still offers a wealth of alternative holiday activities tempting enough to get the most diehard divers engaged in staying topside.
With the addition of the expansive golf courses and exotic jungle trekking tours, the exciting horseback riding experience and the invigorating spa treatments, the exquisite seafood delicacies and the extensive shopping facilities, Bintan can rightfully claim to the place with something for everyone.

1. Light Summer Clothing
Located very near the equator, Bintan gets tropical heat and humidity, yet never uncomfortably scorching or stuffy, thanks to the constant brezzes.
In such a pleasantly warm and sunny tropical enviroment, lightweight loosefitting summer clothes and footwear, such as sleeveless or short-sleeve T-shirts, Bermuda shorts or 3/4 pants, comfortable walking shoes, slippers or sandals, are advised.
2.Beach Gear
While Bintan's climate would pretty much mirror that of Batam and Singapore, it is more widely acclaimed as a place of the almost guaranteed fun in the sun, and your chances of visiting the white sandy beaches and making a splash into the cool water are not slim at all.
That said, you should pack the essentials for a beach resort trip, such as beach slippers, suntan lotion, swimwear, swim goggles, etc.
3.Sun Protection
Although you might not feel unbearably hot in Bintan, given Bintan's high solar altitude, the ultraviolet radiation here is rather intense even when it is overcast.
Do as the savvy Aussies do to slip on a light shirt, slop on strong sunscreen, slap on a sunhat, and probably plus an extra pair of sunglasses.
4.Wet-Weather Gear
If you happen to visit Bintan during the wet monsoon season from November to March, expect heavy rains, strong winds and rough waves.Besides, there would be the almost routine sudden downpours during the day, especially in the afternoon, and occasional tropical thunderstorms.
A smal folding umbrella would come in pretty handy for such situations.
5.Other tips
If you're susceptible to sea-sickness, bring anti-nausea pills for your ferry crossings or boat cruises.
If you plan to hit the beach and take to the sea very often, bring something waterproof to protect your camera and other personal belongings.
Don't forget to apply mosquito repellent at dawn and dusk, especially when you're on the water's edge.
