Agra Travel Overview:
Once a flourishing capital of the mighty Mughal empire in the medieval Hindustan, now a prominent tourist destination on the World Tourism map, Agra reveals some of the world's most intriguing tapestries of history and culture that have shaped the human civilization over the centries and continue to enrich mainkind in these days and years to come.
The fickle bunch of tourists, not surprisingly, would invariably add Agra into their India trip, and with good reason.
The City of Taj as it is known to the world, Agra is the probably the single most authentic litmus test to determine whether an Indian visitor is a travel snob or a travel slob, the former allegedly claims to adore and absorb the architectural intricacies and cultural subtleties of a quintessential Mughal capital, while the latter simply wow and wonder at the beauty and glory of the UNESCO World Heritage Site listed Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri on the almost must-do "Golden Triangle" itinerary in India.
Yet Agra is not just a decadent city of stone and marble. Its vivacious traditional Indo-muslim way of life, the lingering nostalgic grace and refinement of the streetscape, and the very something seemingly everywhere to satisfy or surprise your connoisseur's taste for good things in life, such as the gastronomic cuisine and the equisite handicrafts, also contribute a great deal to captivate its curious guests with fond memories to take back home.
The splendour of some of the finest architectural wonders of the world, the glamour of the layered hostory resonating in every nook and cranny of the historic city, plus the vigor of the fast-paced modern development which is typical of any other ever-growing Indian city, all together succeed in composing the most dramatic theatrics of the eternal love and evocative legend that is Agra.

Located on the Indo-Gangetic plains, Agra and the rest of the Northern Plains of India have a sub-tropical climate and experience extreme climatic changes in all seasons.
More specifically, Agra features four distinct seasons, including the crazy hot Summer or pre-monsoon season from April to June when the outside air temperature would read as high as 46 degrees Celsius, the soaking wet monsoonal season from July to Semtepber during which period about 67 cm of rainfall annually would accumulate, the post-monsoon season from October to December when the rains begin to diminish and the clouds begin to recede, and a chilly winter when the temperature falls regularly below 5 degrees Celsius and occasionally below freezing.
Given Agra's varied temperatures and other unpredictable weather conditions at both ends of the scale, packing and wearing what's best in line with the weather would be an essential part of your travel plan before your hassel-free trip in Agra.
If you happen to call at town in March, October or November, which are the best, weatherwise speaking, seasons to visit, rest assured that you have most realistically ruled out the risk of ruining you happy holiday with either extreme heat, rain or significant cold and the the minimum number of the very casual kind of loose-fitting cotton clothing and a pair of comfortable walking shoes would suffice while sightseeing and shopping during the daytime.
For cooler evenings during these months and the cold winter months, light woolens are preferable. Pullovers or cardigans are sufficient during daytime. When things get worse, like the positively bone-chilling cold waves, you would want to require heavy woolen clothing and long coats.
Given the extreme power of the sun during summer, as well as the devoutly practiced religious believes in this part of the world, you might want to avoid exposing your skin as much as possible. That said, you should seriously thinking of packing or buying some appropriate light clothes that can fully cover your body parts, plus a good storage of sunscreen lotions.
During the monsoon season, normal summer clothing will do just fine. To protect you from the intermittent heavy spells and the occasionally resurfacing sunrays, it is wiser to carry an umbrella. Given the very himid weather conditions, you might also want to take an extra change of waterproof clothes and as many tissues as you can in your luggage.
